[ Now that Taako is opening up, talking about the breakup a bit more, Cisco is being very careful. The last thing he wants to do is make the situation worse by saying something dumb. Not when his friendship with Taako and his friendship with Eddie both mean so much to him. ]

i'm glad you're okay, or some version of it.

[ He knows that Taako means he's not having a breakdown or anything, but Cisco doubts very much that he is genuinely doing just great. If he was, he wouldn't have dodged the topic at first. ]

[There's a part of him that's angry, about this whole thing, but it isn't fair to dump that on Cisco, who's friends with them both. Lup makes a better sounding board for that, she'll always take his side.]

[ It's not all that surprising to Cisco, that Taako isn't into, as he put it, "fucking around". If only because, in Cisco's experience, that kind of thing often goes hand-in-hand with poor self-image and Taako, even if he isn't 100% as confident as he projects, does seem genuinely okay with himself as a person, and comfortable with who he is.

As for the other part, he believes that Taako means what he says. But... ]

i know that it didn't end so great this time, but i hope you don't mind me saying... i hope someone great comes along and changes your mind about the 'relationship mess'. eventually, when you're ready.
you deserve to be happy.

I get what you're doing, pumpkin, but this was kinda the whole issue to begin with.

I've already got my heart, I don't need anyone else.

[He means Lup and even if that's not the same as a romantic relationship at all, he's never felt like he was missing something. He's not totally opposed to the idea of finding someone, eventually, but it's never been a priority, and he knows he'll be happy as long as he has his family.]

[ Cisco can't help but feel a momentary twinge of jealousy at that. Not the kind of jealousy where he wishes Taako was less happy and fulfilled, just... an awareness of the difference. But it passes quickly, and Cisco feels more reassured than he had by Taako's insistence that he was okay. Because he does have Lup, and if that's what is most important to him, that's what's most important. No reason a boyfriend should be more important than a sister. ]

well, in that case, i'll change it to: i hope you find someone who is perfectly happy not being needed and who fits in next to your heart just right.
but if you don't, then i just hope you are happy, period.

[But he appreciates it, he's just not great at this kind of stuff. Cisco gets a lot of honesty from him partly because it's easy enough to give to someone who's already seen him at pretty much his worst, but that doesn't make him any better at actually dealing with shit like genuine well wishes.]

[ Cisco, for his part, is completely undaunted by Taako's response. He can be good enough at this kind of stuff for the both of them. He knows that Taako is saying he is grateful, in the best way he knows how. And Cisco tries to say 'you're welcome' in a way that will set Taako at his ease. ]

[ That's all he can really promise. Breakups are messy, and both Taako and Cisco clearly know that Eddie has a tendency to blame himself if he's anything less than perfect for even a moment. ]
