Your coffee is pretty good.
[ Turnabout is fair play. ]

Wait until you try my cooking, that's impressive.
[Look, he's got an ego, there's no denying that, but cooking is something he really is good at. Like, the one thing, aside from the wizard shit, and he's more proud of the cooking.]
Oh, dang, I bet I could use the coffee for flavor in shit, it'd go great with chocolate.
[This isn't exactly revolutionary to most people, but it just occurred to Taako and it's an interesting idea to him.]
no subject
[ No sense telling Taako it's already a thing, just like there's no point telling him his name is actually a Mexican food. ]
I'd be happy to eat anything you make.

You keep up with this flattery and I'm gonna start wondering if you're angling for a date.
[It's hard to tel if he's joking or not.]
no subject
I don't think I'm your type.
[ He would never dare joke about Taako not being anyone's type. He's very likeable. ]
no subject
[Not that he really has a type, in all honesty.]
no subject
Clark laughs softly. ]
I'm not looking for a date.
no subject
[He takes a sip of his coffee, ineffectually hiding a grin.]
But listen, my last date was with the literal grim reaper, I'm not totally predictable.
no subject
It's uncomfortable for him. ]
No, I never would've guessed. How did it go?
no subject
[Either he's used to messed up shit, or his standards are really low, or a combination of both.
But even though he brought up Kravitz as a joke, something in his posture sinks a little.]
Last time I saw him he was getting sucked into that black oil I mentioned, so who the fuck knows if I'll see him again.
no subject
I hope you do. He sounds... like an interesting guy.
no subject
[He blows a strand of hair out of his face, somewhere between annoyed and fond. The former at himself because he's not!! having emotions about this!!]
Shit's pretty fucked up back home, I'll be honest. I think guy troubles are the least of my worries.
no subject
[ Nothing about this black oil sounds like good news, and there's only Taako and his friends to deal with it. ]
You want to talk about it?
no subject
I wouldn't even know where to start. There's all this fucked up shit and we don't know half of it, all I got is a couple prophecies to go off and a lich who we thought was evil but helped us out, I guess? The only person I trust anymore is a fucking ten year old, so that's where I'm at.
[He doesn't even realize what he's missing, it's a lot more than he thinks.]
no subject
Well, good luck. Hopefully something here will help you.
no subject
[It's not that he doesn't think people will try, he's just used to relying on himself and no one else.]
I got one idea, but it might be a little dangerous.
no subject
Do you think it will work?
no subject
[Magic!!]
no subject
Magic?
no subject
[It's just lightly teasing, like Clark please.
On the plus side thinking about this is a good distraction from worrying about Kravitz]
no subject
no subject
[No he wouldn't have, but it's nice to pretend sometimes.]
no subject
[ It's awkward phrasing. Taako already seems like an expert to him, but he said he has some limits. ]
no subject
[Considering how impressed everyone is by even basic magic, he isn't too worried about admitting he isn't insanely powerful by the standards back home. Someone like Lucretia would probably still wreck his shit.]
Here, I've got like-- Hang on. [Taako hops out of his seat and disappears into the bedroom for a few seconds, coming back with a beat up looking book in his hands, the cover and all the text is in a foreign script. He flicks through it, then marks a page with a finger, before holding it up to show Clark the width of the book on either side of where he's marked.
It's about what he said - in the middle.] Shit I can pull off is on one side, shit I can't is on the other. And that's just what I know, there's probably a few things I've missed.
[He has access to the Bureau's library, and he'd copied down as many spells as he could, but it's possible there's stuff even the Bureau doesn't have.]
no subject
How long until you've finished the book?
