[It's a quiet sort of curse, just a recognition of the fact this is a big thing.]

I mean, uh, this is the point where I'd be thinking about bailing so I dunno if you want my advice on this. Seems like you've got it figured out alright.

(She... knows what she wants, and what she doesn't want. It's the enormity of it that's starting to scare her. These are big emotions. Where will they go after the dust settles?)

What do you wanna talk about? Can't say there's a whole lot of interesting shit happening in Taako's life.

[It's sort of sad, he hasn't gotten out much except to deliver orders and buy groceries, but social event are sort of beyond him at the moment.]

Yeah. There haven't been any wild parties in a while, huh.

(Probably isn't the best time for one anyway. Even though it's hard for Taako right now, Lucretia privately thinks it might be better for him have to work through some of this instead of throw himself head-first into distractions.)

Hey, haven't you been here for almost a year now?

Fuck, don't remind me. In like two? Three weeks? Some shit like that, I didn't write down the day I showed up but it when Sampremi was happening.

[It's strange to think about how different things were back then; he didn't know about Lup, about the Hunger, he was just muddling his way through trying to figure his shit out. That was when he met Clark and Bryn, two of the first people he really befriended.]

[scholiast]

(She gives his hand a gentle squeeze in sympathy.)

Are you impatient to leave?

(They haven't really talked about this before. Lucretia thinks of when she first arrived, fresh out of her third decade into the cycles, so blissfully unaware of anything. When she leaves, will she be returning to that time? Or to the last moment she knows now, to Wonderland? She has no idea.)

If you'd asked me that like a month ago I would've had a different answer.

[It's a yes now. There are a few people he's loathe to leave but... he's tired.]

(She nods, mulling that over for a moment. It's true that a whole lot has happened with him lately; she's not surprised his answer has changed, in that regard.)

(If he goes. If he goes before her. There are a lot of stipulations here but Lucretia can't be bothered voicing them. She's just trying to be sincere.)

You'll see me again, even if it'll be different.

[Taako is self-aware enough to realize that without the environment of the Quarantine, their relationship won't be the same back in Fearun. What he can't say is whether it'll be better or worse. Maybe it'll be neither, just.... different.]

I know.

(But she'll still miss him, she always misses him when he goes. Kinda like a cycle he died during; Taako's absence from their group is invariably noticeable, every time. Besides, if she is going back to post-Wonderland, she'll have another ten years to go without him and the thought of that is incredibly sobering.

She lets go of his hand.) Okay. I think I do need to blow stuff up now.

[In response, Taako straights up and gestures at the forest in front of them.]

Be my guest, bubbale, I'll be on fire extinguisher duty.

(She snorts, and takes another sip of the Pisco before she stands up.

Maybe it's residual annoyance left over from what's been happening recently, all the butting in and messing around from Gramarye, but she doesn't have any hesitance over casting a couple spells to let off steam.

Until she casts chain lightning at a tree and splits it in half with an extremely loud crack. The sound is satisfying (as is the newly ruptured form of the tree in a weird, arty way), but she immediately just feels guilty for purposefully fucking up nature. It's not the tree's fault she's having a strange week.)

No, (she sighs,) actually, this is– weird, I change my mind.

[Taako isn't too surprised when Lucretia loses steam on this one, since he was feeling pretty similar.]

I think we fucked it up with the walk, should've just popped straight out here and started fucking shit up.

[It's one thing to dive straight into it, but he lost some of his anger during the walk and now it just seems odd.]

Yeah, we ruined the mood.

(And really, the whole thing is so weird and dumb and performative that she starts to laugh.)

I don't know why I– suggested it, I didn't even really feel like leaving the house. I put on pants.

[Taako sort of wavers for a moment, biting his bottom lip before he starts laughing as well.]

I dunno, maybe it wasn't terrible to get outta the house.

(She's still giggling weakly even as she comes to sit back down with him.)

No, it's good. I can only stay cooped up in there for so long. (Feeling that sliver of Taako's laughter through their little link is making her feel better.)

[This is nice, almost normal and it's a relief not just not feel awful for a few moments that he's willing to ignore the fact he still hasn't forgiven Lucretia. That doesn't matter right now.]

[It's a oh shit of I have a great idea, as he turns to face Lucretia.]

We should fucking-- let's get dressed to the fucking nines and go to the fanciest place here. We've got the money to burn.

[And Taako sort of misses doing that kind of thing with Rin, they had fun going to hella fancy restaurants and galleries to either mock or rob people. He can do the former with Lucretia.]

(The suggestion makes her smile properly. Doing stuff like this is a relic from the cycles, before everything went to shit. She'd forgotten up until now how silly her and Taako used to be together. Being here like this, being from the point in time that she is has robbed her of a lot of old comforts.)

Yeah! Yeah, that sounds– let's do it.

(she's not gonna give him time to second guess this)

[Honestly, he doesn't want to second guess himself either, he's just sort of running with what feels good because that's a rare thing the last few weeks.]

Only one of us has a closet full of gowns and it's not fucking you, bubbale.

[This is exactly why he didn't teleport here, because it means he can just grab the bottle of booze and mid-drink teleport the two of them into his bedroom.

It's a little messier than usual, but not as bad as it was when he was cursed.]

Excuse me, (she starts, but then Taako pulls her along with him as he casts teleport and doesn't even spill any of the Pisco. It's a very classy move. Lucretia rolls her eyes and takes an unceremonious seat on his bed.)

Right. What are our options, then?

[Taako hands the bottle back to Lucretia, freeing up his hands to open his closet and start rifling through it.]

I mean, what are we feeling? Rich widows who totally didn't murder our husbands? Vaguely condescending royalty from corrupt kingdoms? Heiresses with more money than sense who still let daddy help them pick outfits? I've got like... I've got a lot.

(She takes a big sip cuz she's gonna need it.

Okay: I want something that says... retired billionaire artist that lives in the mountains with her various lovers. She's unveiling her first exhibit after decades of radio silence, and all of the works are very tasteful, yet extremely passionate nudes. Go.

[There's some thoughtful humming as Taako rifles through his clothes.]

If you were Lup I'd say that's a tits out kinda look but I know you better.

[Lup isn't afraid of a tits out look but Lucretia is a bit more modest.

So instead he fishes out a dress to toss on the bed for her consideration.]

That with a fucking statement necklace, something high, like a heavy choker. And boots, still tossing up on ankle or knee cause you could make both work.

[Taako just sort of raises an eyebrow because of course that's the tits in option; he doesn't have tits to worry about so a lot of his dresses are low cut and open at the chest.]

That's not like, a hard and fast rule but knee highs are a little more of a power move under sheer dresses so it fits with your whole thing.
