I remember promising you some recipes.
[ He dips his chin towards the pie he's holding. ]
And I thought you might like blueberry.

[That's a compliment, even if it's sort of oddly worded (d&d pls), because even if there isn't Fantasy Southern Charm for Taako to draw a direct comparison with, there's still cute little villages where people invite each other over for tea and pie all the time.
Which, speaking of:]
Tea or coffee? I think I've finally mastered coffee so that it doesn't taste awful when I make it.
[It was a struggle but he persevered.]
no subject
I'll try your coffee.
[ Clark likes to live dangerously. ]
Where should I put the pie?
no subject
[He waves a hand at the kitchen bench, both to indicate a spot and to clear a plate out of the way (it's lifted up by a faint blue outline of a hand that then places it in the sink), while he gets to work on the coffee.]
Is this a cream, ice cream, or as-is kinda pie?
[He's had blueberry pie before, but maybe Clark has a certain way he prefers his to be eaten.]
no subject
Ice cream. You can eat it as-is if you prefer it hot.
[ Clark sets it down on the counter where it'll cool down enough to be eaten. ]
no subject
Are you telling me you don't think you can have both? Cold ice cream and hot pie is a classic combo!
no subject
[ Here, let him hunt for some mugs. Clark doesn't like to sit idle. ]
Do you have any ice cream?
no subject
Sure do! Unless one of the little shits I call roommates has eaten it all.
[He says that fondly, though. He's sort of stuck between wanting his own space and not wanting to be alone, so right now he's just dealing with the current situation and hopes to figure it out eventually.
Fetching ice cream is less complicated, and he does it using mage hand again because he's laaaazy.]
no subject
I can make a quick grocery trip if so.
[ Super-speed is very useful. He watches, fascinated, as the hand opens the freezer. ]
no subject
And comes up empty.]
Aw, dunk.
[Taako blows out a puff of air, then leans back against the counter to lament all the mistakes he's made that have led him to this terrible moment.]
I'm not gonna make you run to the store just for ice cream, the pie will be way cold by the time you get back. [A little more hesitantly, he adds:] I can, uh. I can make some? Real quick.
[He can totally do this. Totally.]
no subject
All right. [ he adds: ] I don't mind running out, honestly, I'd come back in a jiffy.
[ He still says 'jiffy' unironically. ]
no subject
Taako makes a face like he's silently judging himself, and then laughs.]
I can teleport. Hold on!
[Bye.
He's back about ten seconds later with a tub of ice cream in hand. Was that enough time to actually pay for it? Did he even have his wallet with him? These are all mysteries Clark will never know the answer to.]
Think fast.
[Which is all the warning Clark gets before Taako tosses the ice cream in his direction, just assuming he'll catch it.]
no subject
he nearly drops the box!!! ]
You can teleport. I'll... remember that.
no subject
Yup, I got a limit of 500 feet so don't go expecting a trip halfway around this moon, but you know! Magic!
[Coffee no. 1 is done, after all that, so he slides the mug over towards Clark, before grabbing sugar, milk, and the necessary utensils and crockery for pie consumption.]
no subject
[ The ice cream box goes on the table. Clark takes the mug, blowing on it. The heat doesn't bother him. It's just an old habit to pretend. ]
Thank you.
no subject
[It's a surprising amount of honesty, though his tone isn't so much bitter as it is wry, and he moves on pretty quickly.]
You dishing up or will I do the honors?
[He's easy.]
no subject
I'll serve. You made my coffee.
[ He puts down his mug quickly and gets the knife to cut out a slice for Taako and one for himself. ]
Is someone giving you trouble?
[ Okay, Clark won't let this one slide. ]
no subject
[It's still kind of flippant and Over Dramatic but it bothers him more than he wants to admit; there are plenty of reasons to demonize (haha) him and none of them are because he does a few spells. It's not even just Sera, it's the way Bucky treated him with suspicion and how foreign the whole concept of magic is to some people.]
no subject
I think what you can do is very cool.
no subject
[It's half-bluster and half-actual-confidence, because despite everything he really does enjoy doing magic, and it's such a big part of who he is that he can't really imagine not doing it anymore.]
I bet none of those losers can turn into a T-rex.
[Which. Taako can do.
Magic is weird.]
no subject
No, I bet they can't.
no subject
Taako dumps a slightly unholy amount of sugar into his own coffee, tops it up with cream, then steals ("steals") his serving of pie from Clark and makes his way over to the dining table to sit.]
So is this a secret family recipe kinda deal? If I mess it up are your great grandparents gonna haunt my ass?
[Seems legit.]
no subject
[ Blueberry pie isn't a closely guarded secret. If this were apple, they'd be having words. ]
no subject
[The internet is new to him, and he's still getting used to everything it can be used for.]
