[He needs to... tell her about that, about learning more about the future and getting more powerful, but he's sure it'll come up at some point.]
no subject
(Oh, this feels more normal, huh.)
Ten minutes is fine. I'll see you soon.
ackshun
[He never told her about this fight with Dodger, but that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
What matters right now is the fact that Lucretia is no longer giving him the silent treatment, so he quickly finishes up his grocery trip, hails a cab, and arrives home the estimated ten minutes later.
The door opens easily enough the the helpful application of mage hand, but-]
Hey, Luce, I got a bunch of groceries, any chance I could get a hand?
lights, camera
When he opens the door she springs up to help, coming to take most of the bags from him.)
Sure. I'll even throw in a bonus hand, free of charge. (It's a lame joke. She feels a little nervous.)
no subject
He can unpack groceries as if this isn't super awkward.]
There's a handjob joke here, for sure, but I think you might murder me in my sleep if I make it, huh?
no subject
What's for dinner?
no subject
That's a good question, real important. Haven't decided yet, but we were outta a whole bunch of shit so I thought having actual ingredients would be a good first step to figuring out dinner.
[He's just going to quickly put away anything that needs to be frozen or refrigerated, but he's not worrying too much about the rest of it. Fussing over the groceries would just be a way to avoid this talk they probably need to have.]
no subject
That's a very sensible recourse.
(Gods but they are bad at this. Lucretia takes a seat and sighs very long sufferingly. Wearniness with the whole situation makes a very honest person of her, apparently.)
Why is it so hard to talk to you sometimes? It's not like this is the first time we've fought.
no subject
[Cause the honest answer is that he makes it hard to talk to him about this kind of shit, it's a long standing defence mechanism against getting too emotionally attached or having to deal with any kind of messy feelings. And sometimes it sucks, because he cares about Lucretia and he wants to sort this out; it's just instinctive, to play it normal or brush shit off with jokes.
But... after a second of staring at the groceries, he turns around and takes a seat himself.]
Let's get this over with.
no subject
(But it's nice to know that he's taking this seriously enough to sit down and give her his full attention. Lucretia sighs, and scrubs a hand slowly through her hair as she thinks.)
Right. Look, I... I know it wasn't conducive to the problem at the time, but I... I dunno, Taako. Do you at least understand why I was angry?
I'm sorry that I reacted so... so strongly, but I... you can't spring things on me like that.
no subject
I'm sorry, Luce, I should'a asked.
[It's a bit of a struggle to say, but it's not entirely disingenuous, he's just... stubborn.]
no subject
She's stubborn, too. Eventually she gives her head a little shake, and looks at him.)
Thank you. I'm sorry I yelled at you.
no subject
[Even if he stands by what he did, he can still understand her anger. He just doesn't think there was any other real solution for the situation they were in.]
no subject
I... um, Lup and I talked it out. It was good.
no subject
I really didn't mean to fuck that up for you, for either of you.
[He expected Lup to be mad, he just wasn't sure how mad.]
no subject
(She shrugs.) I got her to come around here and she calmed down pretty quick once we had more time to talk about it in person.
So it's going to be okay. Probably helps that I'm taking off for two weeks, though.
no subject
[She's an emotional thing; he's sure seeing Lucretia upset probably helped her to get over the anger.]
Where are you off to, bubbale? There's not exactly a lotta great vacay spots around here.
no subject
(She's tired of complaining.)
Work thing, outside of the first wall. It's come at a good time.
no subject
[She'll get over it, is what he mean, but it feels a bit reductive to put it that way, after everything.]
I mean, I'm gonna miss you. Are you gonna be able to make calls out there, if shit goes south?
[He wants to be sure that she'll be safe.]
no subject
(She can tell what he's implying, but she kind of agrees with it too, so. C'est la vie. She smiles tentatively.)
I'll miss you too. I'll have my phone with me the whole time and we should be in reception range, so I'm just a call away if you need me.

no subject
[Or will he.
We'll never know.]
no subject
That's all I can ask for, I suppose.
no subject
If you're really worried you could get one of your coworkers in to fireproof the place.
[Let her live.]
