(This text sure is tentative but Lucretia promised she'd let him know when she finally started seeing through his eyes, so...)

It's happening. (Boy is it ever happening. It's a whole lot, actually. She knows that Taako would much rather not talk about his feelings at all (and this probably includes her even bringing it up right now), but she can't bring herself to ignore everything that's going through his head right now. She's feeling residual sadness and everything.)

D'you want to talk about it?

[This is a text he's been dreading since he started feeling things from Lucretia's perspective, and now it's here.]

You don't wanna gloat first?

[That's unkind, but Taako's unkind sometimes.]

(It is unkind but he's hurting, and she understands.)

No, I don't want to gloat. (Her opinion on Rin doesn't count for anything in this conversation, not when Taako's lost somebody dear to him.)

Just wanted to check in, give you a heads-up.

It's kinda bullshit that I can't lie and say it's fine

[Especially with Lucretia, of all people.]

I mean, even if you did lie it would be obvious that's not the case so technically the situation's the same

(Do you ever send something and then wish you hadn't sent it. Lucretia sighs, and slumps against the side of her armchair, tucking her legs up underneath of her.)

[It would be easy to fall back into the comfort of just snapping at Lucretia to try to make her feel shitty, but if he does that right now, she's going to know that it makes him feel just as horrible, and that's not something he wants to share.]

What kinda something are we talking here? I've got pretty high standards

(Huh, she hadn't been expecting him to give her an inch. Promising.)

[He doesn't know if she can feel his indecision, but it doesn't really matter that much, he just needs a few moments to mull it over. On the one hand: Lucretia. On the other hand: blowing shit up does sound pretty fucking great.]

(She can feel it, can feel him weighing it all up in his mind. It's grimly fascinating, actually, to be able to 'see' his thought process, the mental pros and cons list he draws up. Always nice to watch the results fall in her favour, too.)

[He realizes he forgot to ask if Lucretia is seeing or just feeling, so when he gets changed it's a quick process without fussing around in front of the mirror, just jeans, a blouse and a sturdy pair of boots.

(It isn't as though he as any shame, but he'll spare Lucretia).

After telling Lup where he's running off to, Taako decides to go for the cab option in order to conserve spell slots, meaning he cuts it close to the thirty mins. Luckily he knows Lucretia will wait.]

[scholiast]

(Thankfully she's feeling more than seeing; she gets brief flashes of his wardrobe change but nothing incriminating. And like him, she takes the cab option, opting to preserve her spell slots considering she's about to waste them all in what will likely be one go.

When Taako arrives he'll find her standing there, one hand in her pocket, the other around the neck of a bottle of Pisco. She can't actually remember where she got this. It might have come from a work thing? It doesn't matter, it'll do the job nicely.)

Hey.

(She turns toward the gate at he approaches, because it'll keep her from going in for a welcome hug.) Good to go?

[His own insight into Lucretia comes and goes and honestly, he's not sure if the knowledge she just avoided the impulse for a hug is coming directly from her or just his own understanding of how she works.]

I'm always good to go.

[It's a hesitant thing, but once he's made his way over, Taako reaches out to take her hand.]

Terrific. (She glances down when he takes her hand, and smiles briefly, giving it a light squeeze.)

Has this been happening with anybody else, by the way? Or just me?

(Both of her hands are full so she opens the gate with magic, leading the way through. The woods are quiet. It's nice, actually. With Taako as close as she is maybe it's helping to dim the effect of feeling his thoughts. It feels more like a dull buzz in her mind, something she can't ignore but can get used to.)

[There's a little bit of nostalgia in this, if he stops thinking about Rin for a second they could almost be back in the cycles, taking a trip through some forested planet because Lucretia wants to draw a cool bird she saw.]

Uh, do you know Finn? Kinda young, nice but like weirdly intense about the most random shit? He's been in my head or whatever you want to call it.

[scholiast]

(Hey, if a cool bird suddenly pops out you know she'll bust out her stuff.)

Yeah, I do. We haven't talked a lot, but I get the impression that he's kind. Has he tried to cheer you up too in that case?

[spellslots]

I mean, he texted me at like two in the morning to tell me he was outside my window, so I guess.

[That's what he meant about Finn being kind of intense about the weirdest things.]

[scholiast]

(She laughs pretty hard at that. It's a good mental image.)

Oh, boy. So when you said intense you meant it, huh. How did that go down?

[spellslots]

Well, better than the time he texted me at two am to say he was gonna kill me.

[So there's that.]

Finn did that?

(Lucretia looks very dismayed at this news!)

[Taako nods, a little solemn, but he can only keep up the pretense for a few seconds.]

I told him he should change his name to Dixie Normous, took him a couple days to get it but so fucking worth it once he did.

[scholiast]

(oh goddamnit)

Stop. (She lets go of his hand, but only so she can give him a playful shove,) you're terrible. I'm glad he told you that, I hope it hurt your feelings.

(She's kinda laughing though, because it is actually pretty funny. Dixie Normous.)

[It's so normal, to laugh about a stupid dick joke with Lucretia.]

Why would it hurt my feelings, that's like-- it's the best response I coulda got?

Oh, it's very good.

(Poor Finn. She's definitely going to bring this up to him in future though. And hey, while they're sharing funny jokes and stuff; she doesn't mind sharing this small embarrassment with Taako.)

Speaking of pranks: Loki briefly convinced me he could talk to crystals last week.

[Without missing a beat:]

Uh, he can talk to crystals.

[He's 99.9% sure that Lucretia won't buy it, but he has to try.]

(She pauses for a moment, just a moment but that's probably enough for Taako.)
